Colton Cunningham '18 Recruiting Profile

    Playing baseball at the collegiate level does not just take talent and mild wishfulness, but a deeper aspiration and solid work ethic. This is something that I take to heart and work hard to achieve with the help of my coaches, parents, teachers and teammates.

    On the field my hard work has payed off with a starting role on varsity my freshman and sophomore year which was a huge accomplishment. My freshman year I played second base and hit in the six spot where I learned how to be a good team player from upperclassmen on the team. My sophomore year I played third base and pitched while batting in the five spot and achieved a spot on the All League Second Team. My statistics that were recorded from the season included 15 hits in 44 ABs with 19 RBI’s and a .590 OB%. This was backed up by junior legion and legion baseball during the summer season. In the fall I attended an Under Armour Baseball Factory event at Pirate City in Florida which saw a rise in my technique.

    The start of my junior year has been exciting as seven of the nine starting players return to the team with a hunger to go deeper into the playoffs. I was named the team captain along with two other teammates which represents a huge achievement for myself. I hope to lead my team in a positive and respectful manner during the course of the season.

   Off the field I have kept a 3.4 GPA while taking all honors classes and two AP courses. My interests do not lie in straddling the eligible mark as my parents push me in a “school comes first” philosophy which is very important to me. I make sure to always stay respectful in the classroom and have never had any disciplinary act against me in school.
