Personal Statement

I have played multiple sports since I was seven years old - football, basketball and baseball. I am driven by the competitive nature of sports and my passion has always been baseball.

I am a gap hitter and have a strong arm. I am a team captain that leads by example through my strong work ethic and encouragment of my team mates. I am coachable and am always striving to learn in order to improve my game. I always put in extra time watching film, taking extra swings and working out to get bigger, stronger and faster.

I take my studies seriously and work hard to maintain my GPA. Playing three sports while attending a college prep school has taught me time management skills and leadership. I help tutor classmates in chemistry and also volunteer at an autistic school.

I want to attend a college where I am challenged in the classroom and on the baseball diamond. I am open to all options that come my way and ultimately want to find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible.

Aaron Goecks, OF, Brookfield Academy, 2016 6-foot, 195-pound, left-handed hitting outfielder with a strong build. Currently ranked No. 38 in the Wisconsin Class of 2016. Uncommitted. Hits from a balanced slightly closed setup. Showed good plate coverage and strength thru contact. 98 mph exit velocity from a tee earlier this summer. Good feel for the barrel with quick hands and strength in the forearms. 6-0, 195-pound broad shouldered with a thick lower half. Currently ranked No. 38 in the Class of 2016. Smooth delivery, opens up a bit and falls off slightly to the first base side. Long arm action on the backside, extends through pitch. Heavy fastball with slight run that sat 83-86.

Strong swing, explosive bat speed, pull side power approach, 93 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed arm strength at multiple positions, longer arm action, over the top slot, 87 mph from the outfield, 86 mph across the diamond. Projects better in the outfield, plays through the baseball, exchange is clean, 7.27 runner in the 60. Projects as a left handed bat with pop in a corner outfield spot, strong follow.

2/9/14 - 5-foot-11, 190-pound left handed hitting outfielder, overall strong build. Offensively hits from a closed stance, balanced setup, short stride. Makes hard contact, advanced bat speed, shows some effort. Pull side power approach. 98 mph exit velocity from the tee was the best at the event. Defensively uses a long arm action, high ¾ slot, some carry, 86 mph from the outfield. Quicker exchange, plays through the baseball at times, footwork and body control can improve. Also ran a 4.32 down the line from the left side. Goecks is a strong, athletic left handed hitting outfielder who shows raw abilities that can be polished into a high follow prospect.
