Personal Statement
My name is Marc Jones and I attend Whitewater High School in Whitewater, WI. My dream has always been to play the game of baseball beyond high school, there has not been much more in my life that has meant more to me. Not long after I learned to walk, I learned to swing my first baseball bat so, interestingly enough, I don't remember the first time I swung a bat. I have heard stories about it. In my opinion, that is one of the best representations I can give showing how much I truly love this game and how it has affected my entire life. Every single morning I wake up and my goal is always to try and give everything a full 100% of my energy, whether that be in the classroom studying and getting my school work done or on the field training.
Everyone wants to be a standout athlete, including me, so I strive to be the first thing people around me think when they hear the words, "standout athlete." Something I believe makes me stick out as a baseball player is that I am willing to lay it all on the line for my team every single game and even practices because I am truly a team player. I would do anything for any of my teammates as they are like family to me. Also, I am a firm believer that if you practice like you want to play during a real game, then you'll play just as good, if not better, during the real thing, which is why I do go full intensity each and every day. Another thing that I am very proud of is the fact that I am a great leader. I am always encouraging my teammates to give their all and setting an example of hard work during practice. That extra nudge encourages them to rise to that same level of intensity I am, thus making the team better. I hope that when my teammates step onto the baseball field by my side, they know what to expect from me, a guy who's going to do everything in his power to get the win with them. This same character and intensity I intend on bringing with me to the collegiate level.
Arguably, more important than my character is my academic future. I am a very studious person, proven by my very high GPA. Ultimately, I want to go to a school where I can compete at a very high level of competition in the sport of baseball, but also to attend a university where I can better my education and pursue a major in Mathematics.
