June 2021Hi, My name is Justine Grenier-Fillion and I’m in the class of 2022. I’m a varsity flyer at St. Lucie West Centennial High School and I’ve been an All-Star Cheerleader all of my life! I started cheerleading at 6 years old as a hobby. That hobby became my passion, my second family, it consumed my whole life. When I was 13 I won Athlete of the year at my gym “ACE athletics”, a very prestigious gym in Quebec. At my old Secondary school in Quebec, Séminaire Saint-François, I won “Most Valuable Player” three years in a row (from 7th, 8th and 9th grade). In 10th grade I made my first Worlds team! (We won 4th at the World championships). This 2020-2021 season, I was preparing for a new challenge Level 7. After learning so many new skills and practicing for months, our country shut down due to Covid-19. So we never got to finish our season. This is one of the many reasons why I moved to Florida this year.
Living in a small town in Quebec, Canada where college is nothing compared to the USA, I’ve always dreamed of leaving. For as long as I could remember, I constantly told my parents: “I can’t wait to move to America and go to a big college!”. Little did my mom and dad know my mind was set on going and I wouldn't stop until my dreams became true. That far-fetched idea was finally coming closer to reality this year. My whole family decided that we would move to our house in Florida for one school year and I would attend St. Lucie West Centennial High School. We did all the procedures necessary in February of that year just to find out that because of Quebec’s inconvenient school system, if I graduated in Canada I could never attend High School there… So, I made a life altering decision to transfer high schools at the end of my junior year.
I have a tremendous interest in attending college in America and being a part of a cheerleading team!
