Before the end of 8th grade, I had never even heard the words “field” and “hockey” together in a sentence. Only after listening to the sport being brought up in a conversation, then Googling it, did I realize that it would become one of my passions. I never started out as a field player; on that momentous day while scanning the web for field hockey, I came across an image that ―you guessed it― was a goalie. “That,” I thought to myself, “that is what I want to do.” The rest is history, and I’ve been a keeper ever since.
I currently play for Windy City Field Hockey, as well as for Antioch Community High School. During the 2017 (fall) season, I had 132 saves with ACHS, resulting in an 84% save rate. Additionally, I was named to the Illinois High School All-Star Classic team, received the IHSFHA All-Academic award, and the IHSFHA Sportsmanship award. I also had the privilege to be named a team Captain as a junior, which helped me to further develop my skills as a leader, as well as a hockey player.
I always strive for improvement and success, whether it be in or outside the classroom. I currently have a 4.6 GPA and a 34 ACT, am the Class of 2019 President, a member of National Honor Society, and have played the cello for 12 years and perform with my school’s advanced orchestra. In college, I plan to major in chemistry or biochemistry, as science is a passion of mine. My ultimate goal, for that matter, is to become a surgeon.
My exposure to a wide variety of game play, as well as my dedication and drive (get it?) for field hockey has lead me to believe that I would be a great fit for any collegiate program. I always give 110%, and am constantly seeking to become a more exceptional player. No matter the task, I’ll give you my best in all endeavors for the good of the team.
