Hi, I’m Karli and I live in Calgary, Canada. I have been playing field hockey since I was 5 years old and I am currently training in Field Hockey Canada’s NextGen program. I play in field hockey programs locally, provincially and nationally and have played in the California Cup and the Florida National Field Hockey Festival tournaments.
As a versatile player with strong game sense and speed, I pride myself on being able to anticipate where the play is coming from and where it should go. I am a team-first player who plays where I am needed most, whether it be as a forward, midfielder or center defense, and strives to better my skills, push myself and support my teammates. I am extremely coachable and proactively engage with coaches outside of practice to hone my skills.
My goal is to play competitive field hockey at an institution which values academics, team chemistry and will challenge me to keep developing not only as an athlete but also as a contributing member of society. I currently attend Bishop Carroll, a self-directed high school, which is structured similar to university and requires attending lectures, engaging with teaching assistants and personally managing my schedule to complete assignments and tests on time.
Off the field, I am a dual sport athlete and play competitive A level ringette. I am also a Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award recipient and am currently a Silver Award Participant which requires a minimum of 26 weeks each of physical recreation, personal skill development and community service as well as a 3-day adventurous journey.
