When I’m asked the questions, why do I play field hockey and why do I want to play field hockey in college, my answer has always been the same: I love to play and I cannot imagine myself stopping before I absolutely must. I’ve spent the last 10 years playing field hockey. I have played for numerous coaches and with many different teammates, and with each team I am a part of I learn something about the game and life outside of the game. Before finding love in the defensive position, I had a chance to learn and play all 11 position in a competition setting. Because I have learned every position, I better understand how to defend. I consider myself a student of the game. Whenever I am sitting on the sideline, I listen to my coach, ask questions, and watch the game to see how my teammates and I can improve. I also work hard to always keep a positive attitude on and off the field.
Along with being a student of the game, I also take my studies very seriously. I like to challenge myself at school and take the most challenging classes offered and work hard to keep straight As. Outside of school, I am very active in my church and in my youth group. I have had the chance to help at the local family shelter and work with kids at a summer Bible camp. This summer I will go on my fourth mission trip to help the less fortunate with home improvement projects. Because of my experiences, I have learned to be a team player who is hardworking and dedicated.
