Until high school, I had never participated in any sport and had no plans to in high school until my friend told me she was trying out for the field hockey team and I decided to give it a try. I walked onto the team with no experience in the sport or in a sport in general but immediately loved being on a team and the sport of field hockey. Freshman year I was on the Junior Varsity team and then again sophomore year, this time, a captain. That second year on JV is what really gave me the experience that I needed to become a better player because I was in a leadership position as captain and being a second year gave me more playing time that I most likely would not have gotten on the Varsity level so I was able to improve significantly. Junior year I was a starter on Varsity and it was during this season that I realized I wanted to continue playing past high school. My position is defense but I am not limited to just that. My speed allows me to cover the whole field, both assisting goals down on offense and stopping goals on defense. In addition, I am on the circle for offensive corners and trail for defensive corners. I don't need to play on the best team, I just want the experience of playing field hockey at the next level. I am eager to improve my skills and be a valuable asset to a college team.
