Personal Statement
I asked a few of my friends what they thought of me. All of their responses were similar. Funny, smart, witty, empathetic, and resilient. These aspects have always been important to me, but mostly empathy and resilience. Everybody knows what it feels like to be the new kid—the one who is always left out. Having somebody welcome you into a new group could brighten somebody's day. When I was the new kid at my high school, I was terrified. After meeting friends, I realized there were other people just like me, with nobody to invite them. I went out of my way to walk with them in the hallways or sit with them at lunch. I can now say they have become some of my best friends.
Resilience has always been my main focus. Whether it’s recovering on the field, making up a missing assignment, or retraining a skill I had lost, I will never stop fighting.
