Ella Christian '27 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Ella Christian! I have been playing field hockey since the fifth grade, and when I was in the seventh grade, I watched my first collegiate field hockey game. I can pinpoint this exact moment as a turning point for me because of how absolutely stunned I was. I was in awe of the incredible skills and athleticism the players had. I knew at that moment that one day, I wanted to be that good. It was that summer that I truly fell in love with field hockey, and as I played every morning, wanting to be that good quickly became a need, as I realized it would give me four more years with the sport I love. Even in the seventh grade, I knew I would do whatever it took to earn those four years. Through injuries and setbacks, my firm belief that the outcomes of hard work are equally as important as the process of working hard has been thoroughly ingrained in me. I know that even if the outcome of a game is not what I wanted it to be, the fact that I played my hardest and contributed to my team matters a lot, and every second on turf is preparation for future games. Additionally, through field hockey, I have begun to truly understand the meaning of my Dad's favorite saying, "Good is the enemy of great." I know there is always further to go, more to learn, and faster and stronger to get. I am a very coachable person and know that any critiques I receive are because my coaches want me to succeed. I am a hard worker and a goal-setter on and off the field. I also have a passion for creative writing and hope to pursue that in some form in college to prepare me to one day write a book.
