During my fifth grade year, I kicked off my field hockey journey. The program leader, Keely Tamer, invited me to a field hockey introduction camp. Having played soccer for 4-years helped me to learn the game quickly. In my first game, I remember scoring a goal in sudden death overtime. From that moment on, I have loved field hockey. In the summer of 2014 I joined Pinnacle Field Hockey, under Nancy Cox. This is where I continue to develop my skills and my love of the game. Ever since, I have been training year round with Pinnacle and attending several Fer De Lance clinics.
Through field hockey and soccer, I have learned the benefits of competing, speed, and leadership. I attended WASC Leadership camp in Wisconsin during the summer following 7th grade. There we learned communication and skills that a good leader exhibits. It is important for me to be a leader, knowing how to communicate with my teammates and coaches. Communication and leading by example are key for me as a midfield player. Speed can also be an important factor in the game. I ran track in 8th grade, running the 4x400, 4x200, and 200m hurdles; finding success in each of the events. During my freshman Field Hockey season, I was pulled up to Varsity for the state tournament. They gave me a special assignment to stay on Huron’s best player, Minna Tremonti. Using my speed, I was able to minimize her impact as an offensive threat. In the end, we won the game and moved on to the finals where we lost to Pioneer in overtime. Another skill I posses is coachability. I feel that I am a quick learner and am willing to try new things. I am very competitive in the classroom, on the field, and with my two brothers. Recently, I was selected to be co-captain for the National Festival Tournament and National Showcase Tournament.
My academic goal for high school is to be in the top 5%, and attend a strong academic university. Currently I have a 4.0; ranked #1 of 295 students. What I will bring to your team is perseverance and integrity. I practice with an attitude of gratitude. I get along very well with others and put in the effort every single day while encouraging my teammates to be the best they can be. I also bring strong leadership qualities by leading on the field and off with my voice and by example. All of these qualities help make a team bonded and great.
