I am really excited to have the opportunity to continue playing field hockey in college. I first fell in love with the sport in 3rd grade and I had to wait until middle school to start playing on a team. It was then when I became interested in becoming a goalie. In high school my freshman year I was the backup JV goalie and was able to be moved up to backup varsity goalie in the postseason. Going into my sophomore year, I was selected to be the varsity goalie for the 2019 season. In my first season as varsity goalie I was named to the 2019 Michigan Field Hockey Association All-State team for my Division. I am so excited to have received this title, but I think that the title I have is that of “team mate" is most dear to me. Not only do I love the game of field hockey, but I love the sense of family that comes along with it.
In addition to field hockey, I am an active part of my school's drama program. One of the things that I have been able to bring to the field by participating in theater is the knowledge of how to play a role that can benefit the whole. In theater they say that every role is important and I believe the same thing can be said about the players on and off the field. My role as a goalie, that I feel I have grown to be successful at, is guiding my defense against any offense.
I look for a future college team that is competitive but with a solid supportive team environment where I can continue to develop my goalie skills, and my academic skills.
