Jessica Kleber '18 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Jessica Kleber, and I am a current student at Nanuet Senior High School in New York. Field hockey has become a huge part of my life, and I am always seeking new ways to improve my skills and push myself - on and off the field. I have been a starter for all 6 years that I have been playing field hockey beginning at the modified level. I have grown to become a very versatile player, as my club team has allowed me to play every position on the field when we've attended tournaments. Being a forward, playing defense and defensive midfield was foreign to me, but it opened my eyes to new perspectives, and has allowed me to see the field in a completely new way.  I was very honored to have been nominated captain for the upcoming 2017 season, and I am looking forward to incorporate the skills I've picked up through my higher level club team, to our school team!

Playing a team sport has also aided me in developing better organization and time-management skills. I work two jobs part time as well, which gives a even more structure to how I plan out my academic life. I am always looking to take classes that I can challenge myself in, and have so far maintained a 93 GPA, and I have also been inducted into the National Honor Society. 

Field hockey came to me when I was in 6th grade, and if it hadn't been for the high school students at the time, who came to our school and spread the word about the sport, I wouldn't have discovered something that I have come to be so passionate about. With that in mind, I worked with our elementary school in effort to set up a Nanuet Youth Field Hockey program. It was difficult starting from scratch and with such little field space, so I connected with a coach from a school in the next town over where we partnered with USA Field Hockey to organize our own youth program (3G Field Hockey)! Since then, I have been coaching 3rd-8th graders in an instructional clinic twice a week and I couldn't be happier to see girls at such a young age, fall in love with the sport like I did.
