My name is Megan Dadio and I am a member of the Class of 2024 from Easton, Pennsylvania. I play midfield and/or forward for my high school team, Moravian Academy, and my club team, Phoenix Performance Academy (PPA). I am searching for a college or university where I can play my favorite sport and earn a degree in my major; as of now, I want to study on the path of becoming a medical professional or veterinarian.
I started playing field hockey four years ago in sixth grade for my middle school team, and it has become the one thing in my life that I always love doing. During my freshman year at Moravian Academy, I worked to make the varsity roster, and started at center forward every game where I scored 4 goals (3rd Leading Scorer) and had 3 assists. A highlight of my first high school season was my team making it into overtime of the District XI finals against Northwestern Lehigh. This year, I started every game on varsity as the right inner midfielder, where I had the opportunity to work the ball up the sidelines more in my play than before. I scored 13 goals (2nd Leading Scorer) and had 18 assists - my favorite moment of this season was the celebration after I scored the game-winning goal in overtime against our rival Bangor! Our team went 15-4 this year, and I personally was noted as All-Area Honorable Mention. Playing with my PPA squad, I take every opportunity I have to play the game I love; from tournaments to practices, both indoor and outdoor, I always have a stick in my hand. I always say it: my favorite thing about field hockey is the feeling of working to earn your team an assist, setting up someone else for the goal, and then celebrating together.
Off the field, I value academics and have high expectations of myself. I schedule Honors classes where available and will be taking AP classes in my junior and senior years. Next year, I plan to take AP Calculus AB, AP English Literature, AP U.S. History, and AP Biology. I strive for academic excellence. I have never had anything other than an A+ in all of high school and because of this effort have a 4.4 weighted GPA (4.0 unweighted.) In my years of education, I have learned that my academic passions are math and science. My love of math and science, especially Biology, Calculus, and Chemistry, will lead me to pursue a career as a medical professional or veterinarian.
