Personal Statement
My collegiate goal is to reach my potential as an athlete and a scholar. As someone who does not give up, I have found field hockey and selective academic experiences to be the inspiration I need to dig deeper and work harder. I truly love a challenge. My gratitude to the coaches who have trained me, the people who have given me opportunities and to the teachers who push me is huge. I think my attitude is what allows me to compete at the levels I do and to be recognized for my physicality, toughness and endurance. I am a very competitive person which leads me to work harder than many. I have sought the most intense field hockey experience I could AND I LOVE IT!
I am a good candidate for a school that values high level academics and never-give-up field hockey. I train all year round to stay physically fit but I keep playing ice hockey and and use telemark skiing to do other things I love. I am a voracious reader and English is a favorite subject. I am fascinated by neuronutrition, specifically the way that food affects brain function. I am currently developing an experiment to present at PA Junior Science Association this spring. Though I play double bass in two orchestras in school, my favorite music to play is bluegrass and when I have the time, I attend local jam sessions.
My relationships with teachers and coaches has taught me more than the subjects or skills I acquired. They taught me that I have not found my limits, that I can always work a little but harder and that there are many rewards to be found on the other side of easy.
