Not always being the ‘spoon fed’ winner has really made me who I am today. I have learned that only through hard work and perseverance, you gain what you want. Also, I have had the opportunity to help the first basketball team in our school’s history make it to the 2nd round of playoffs. Our football team has improved significantly these past few years teaching me, as well as my teammates, values of determination, grit, and commitment.
Through football, I have learned how to push myself to the limits on every play. Seeing my brothers around me make the ultimate sacrifices on the field; giving their all, occasionally getting injured, has made me understand that you never know when it will be your last play or last practice...give 100%, 100% of the time so that you are left without regret - not wishing you gave more. Academically, I am looking for challenge in possible college programs. Athletically, a challenge is preferable as well. Overcoming obstacles is the best motivation for me, and I think I have the skills, knowledge, and work ethic to prosper in any program that accepts me.
