My name is Trey Bates and football is my passion.
I made the decision to forego a bright future in baseball after my sophomore season so I could focus on academics and football specific training in the offseason. Weight lifting and speed & agility with a personal trainer improved my overall strength and quickness. I was able to improve my 5-10-5 shuttle time to 4.41 seconds. I travelled almost every weekend to Knoxville, Tennessee for 2 days of intensive one on one QB training with former Volunteer QB Erik Ainge. Erik’s experience in the NFL enabled him to utilize drills and film study to further my development. I am devoted to getting better every day.
I attended several football camps this past offseason. Along the way, I won the QB MVP at the NUC Combine in Knoxville. In Birmingham, I was awarded the FBU overall offensive MVP. I was also selected for FBU’s Top Gun for the second year in a row.
We recently secured the Region Championship against the #10 ranked team in the State. Down by 3 points with 1:45 seconds on the clock and no time outs, we marched down the field and scored the go ahead touchdown with 14 seconds on the clock. 5 different receivers caught passes while converting on 3rd and 4th down along the way.
I encourage you to visit my HUDL account to view additional highlights including the drive for the Region Championship.

I would describe myself as a very quick minded tough player. I pride myself in making a pre-snap read of the defense to allow me to get the ball out quickly and adjust if the play breaks down. Our offense is geared to playing fast. We can play smash mouth football or sling it around as evident by our last second drive to win the Region Championship. I lead by example and being one of the first on the field and last to leave.
Bob Jones HS boasts the largest student population in the State up until this year. I have played with or against most of my teammates from county league thru middle school. I take great pride in my teammates and the commitment we have to laying it all on the line on Friday nights.
I would like to pursue a career in the medical field, but haven’t decided on a major yet. I would be most interested in a school that has a good science program. I am located in the southeast, but would be happy to move most anywhere. I have absolute confidence in my ability to meet the challenges of life on and off the football field.
My dream is to play college football.
