James John '21 Recruiting Profile

I first started playing football when I was 9 years old, and I instantly fell in love with it because of how competitive it is. The defensive back position came most naturally to me because I play smart and read the field really well. I currently play on varsity for Hamilton High School in Chandler,  AZ. We are ranked in the top 25 nationally for high school football so I know what a championship team is all about.  

Outside of football, I keep on top of my academics. I was recently selected as a 2020 Great American Rivalry Series Scholar Athlete, a national award in which I ranked in the top 35 of voting. I am also a member of the National Honors Society and currently have a 4.3 weighted GPA.  I take almost all Honors and AP classes and I'm particularly strong in math and science.  I try to be involved in other activities other than just sports and academics.  I have over 50 hours of community service mostly helping in food banks and pet shelters.  For fun, I enjoy SCUBA diving and I have completed over 25 dives in several countries around the world. 

I am looking for a college with  strong academics, especially in the engineering field which I plan to major in. Because of my performance athletically, academically, and my proven good character, I believe that I would be a great fit for any football program that has an interest in me.
