Practice and Prepare to Pursue Perfection
As a student athlete, academic excellence is my first pursuit. Being a dual sport athlete while carrying such a challenging course load, certainly isn't easy. But like my parents have always taught me, anything worth having rarely comes easy.
I've chosen to play one of the hardest positions on the football field; Cornerback. I practice and prepare to pursue perfection by investing countless hours focusing and improving my technique. One of my goals is to force my competitors to be perfect at every aspect of their game as this will be their only chance of success when they choose to throw my way.
Anyone competing against me and my TEAM will need to be perfect to achieve success. Before any receiver has a chance to catch a ball my way, his team will have to be perfect. A perfect snap from center; have perfect protection against the Blackhawks dominating pass rush; a perfect drop-back and throw from his QB; he'll have to run a perfect route; and make a perfect catch. If my competitor executes all that to perfection and makes a completion against me, then I will tip my hat as they will have won that battle. Then I'll forget about that battle, and move on to the next play. But if my competition isn't perfect; if they make a mistake anywhere in the play, I will be there. I will be there to make my competitor pay the price of imperfection.
I know that perfection is rarely achieved. But my commitment is to Pursue Perfection through intense Practice and Preparation; on the field, in the film room, and in the classroom. I have great coaches. I have a great team. I have a great family. With my commitment and pursuit, greatness awaits me. I will not let them down.
