Seth Derline '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Seth Derline.  My lifelong goal has always been to play collegiate, then professional football. In doing this, I understand that I need to present myself worthy, first of all in the classroom, and then on the football field. My collegiate goals are to first and foremost to do the best I can in academics and have the highest GPA as I possible can. Because without a good education, I realize how important it is for my future and I will not be able to make it anywhere in life as well as have the chance to make it in sports. And secondly, my collegiate goal is to represent the school that I attend in playing football for them and doing the best I can at what I do best, "play football". 

  I think the reason I would make a good candidate is because as a player, I believe in teamwork. We work together, practice, win, loose, and live as a team. I am not the kind of person that thinks that I am going to win by myself. Because if we do not work together and have unity, then we, as the team will not be in one accord. There is no "I" in team.  Another reason I know I would be a good candidate is because of how well I act and present myself to others.  Also being a good role model to my teammates, coaching staff, students I attend school with, as well the school's faculty.  I feel that some players that get scholarships just want to play the game and win by themselves. But as for me, I want to win as a team mate with my entire team. I don't think that I am the best out on the field, but I want to do the very best that I can do.

  What makes me different from everyone else is that I believe in myself. Even though I feel very confident in how well I can play, I will still learn more and do the very best that I can on the field, for both practices and games. I will also be the best I can be, and do the best I can do even in the classroom, and show the teacher what I am capable of doing at all times. Because like I said earlier, that is where it matters the most, in the classroom.  And as for character, a person is what people sees. So as for my character, I feel I have a very good outgoing and positive attitude, with a great outlook for my life. I believe that a person is to lead by example and that is what I try to do, both now and  in the future with my life. I do my best as being a leader and not a follower. 

  To sum my profile up, I want to first of all thank God for giving me the ability to do what I like to do best. Then thank my parents and other family members for all their love and support for me throughout all of my life and them giving me the opportunity to play the game.
