Misco League Football was a hot topic for all boys coming up in Blytheville, AR. The small city that I live in was rampant with crime. My parents always worked to assure that our needs were met. My dad forced me to join the Misco League to attempt to detour me from becoming a statistic. Every day one of my friends or people that were in the same grade with me seemed to be going to jail. Well, during my first game the coach allowed me to be the running back for the team. From that point on, even after being forced to play football, I fell in love.
My desire is to get to college and play the sport that I love. Looking into becoming a football coach, something that would allow me to always have some part of the sport that drew me in from the first run in we had. That and track and field, which seemed to show me that my athleticism spread into this area in addition. Bringing home three first-place statuses in my sophomore year along with being discus district champion. Only to get to state and place 8th in discus throwing. District champion seemed to bring me a lot of attention locally. The plan of my parents to keep me out of trouble and to find something positive to occupy my time has worked. Knowing the road ahead of me will not be easy, determination and my love for football will help me accomplish my goal. Opportunities extended to me will be used graciously and humbly.
Thank You, Tyrone Pope, JR.
