As I enter my senior year full of uncertainty due to Covid-19, I know that I am prepared to overcome any adversity based on past life experiences. As a freshman, I was moved up to the junior varsity team and we went undefeated. However, the following year, I was moved to the varsity team and we failed to make the playoffs for the first time in all my years playing football. That same year, my mom was diagnosed with cancer and began treatment. So, as I watched and helped my mom begin her battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends with the goal of getting better every day, I also began off-season workouts with my teammates with the same goal - trying to get better in whatever I did every day. Ultimately, through her own strength and resiliency and the support from our community, my mom finished her treatment and reached remission and through hours of hard work and dedication, my teammates and I reached the playoffs as a top seed. My mom attended every game of our playoff run.
These last few years have taught me not only the benefits of strength and determination, but also the value of teamwork, commitment and sacrifice. I have also learned to lead by example. Thus, I know that I have the talent and mindset to compete at the next level and to handle any difficulties I encounter. I am looking for a school and football program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically where I can use these skills to make an impact. I am ready for any challenge that comes at me and excited for the college and recruiting process.
