Hello, my name is Joe Beach. I am a hard-working athlete out of Grover Beach, California—a coachable competitor who will work relentlessly for any coach who gives me an opportunity. Football has been a huge part of my life. Even before I got the chance to play at nine years old, I was born wanting to hit someone, with one of my earliest memories being running through the shortstop at second base during Tee Ball when I was five years old.
In high school, I was a four-sport athlete—football, wrestling, baseball, and track. Each sport taught me something different, but nothing compared to football. No sport builds a brotherhood like football does. Every season, I experienced the grind—the early mornings, the weight room sessions pushing to failure, the wind sprints until legs felt like they were falling off. Through all of it, teammates became family, and we became a team. The bond that football creates is stronger than anything I’ve ever felt—stronger than even a Palomar knot holding a fishing hook in place.
But football also taught me about adversity. I’ve learned a lot about perseverance through injuries that would have made most people quit. My junior year, I was having a strong season until I broke my foot midway through. I worked like hell to rehab and push through the pain just to get back for the last two games. Then, in my senior year, just as I was getting started, disaster struck again—I snapped my fibula at the top and fractured both my tibia and fibula near my ankle halfway through my second game. Three screws were put in to hold my leg together, and just like that, my high school football career was over.
I wasn’t ready to let that be my story. I had more to prove, so I made the decision to graduate early and get straight to work. Now, as a JUCO product at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California, I’m putting in the work to show the world exactly what I’m made of. Some might have let injuries define them, but I refuse to be anything less than the hardest worker in the room. I came to Hancock with something to prove, and I will prove it. Any coach willing to take a chance on me will get a player who shows up every day, works until there’s nothing left in the tank, and does whatever it takes to help his team win.
Football isn’t just a game—it’s the launchpad for my future. I want to earn a college education in Fire Science, Homeland Security, or Forestry to build a career as a firefighter. But I don’t want to stop there—I plan to earn my flight hours and eventually become a pilot for my fire department. Every injury, every setback, every moment of doubt has made me stronger. I’ve been knocked down, but I’ve never stayed down.
I can’t imagine a life without competitive football. Every sport I played made me a better athlete, but football made me who I am. I dream of game-defining moments, whether it’s a touchdown, a game-saving sack, or the opportunity to prove myself at the next level. My goal is to continue playing at a four-year university and contribute to a program that values hard work, leadership, and resilience. I know what I bring to the table, and I know any coach who gives me a shot won’t regret it. I’m ready for my next opportunity, and I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to earn it.
