My name is Hunter Rapp and sports have played and continue to have a significant impact in my life. My ambition is to attend a university which I can combine my love of football and receive an education. My career goal is to attend law school and major in political science
I am the youngest of three and was eager to do everything my older siblings were doing. Growing up in Southern California I enjoyed participating in sports year-round including ice hockey since I was 5, football at the age of 8, track and field, surfing and skate boarding.
I had started playing ice hockey with the local inhouse teams at the age of 5, and then went on to play travel ice hockey. I participated in the Los Angeles Kings skills competition and my squirt season was second in southern California. My ice hockey career was cut short due to family financial difficulties and I found my new sport of football at age 8.
In my elementary year I was invited by the football coaching staff to try out for the local pop warner club, I was considered the fastest sprinter in my track team. Even at the young age of 8, this was not my first experienced with organized sports.
That first year of football was a turning point and I made new friends and found my new love and the ability to excel in another sport. I quickly learned that hard work and discipline, was what began to define my position as a standout offensive running back due to my speed. I continued to play football but also joined the track and field travel club in my city. I continued both to this day and into high school level. Currently I have tried different positions in football, I am fortunate to be given the opportunity to excel in defensive corner, running back and safety.
Sports have had a great impact in shaping my life. Every day I find that the lessons and discipline I learned through have given me a competitive edge. I count my blessings and I’m glad to see that sports continue to bring so much joy and opportunity to our communities, families, attitudes, and livelihood. Within my community I volunteer my summers as a junior lifeguard aide, assisting the local lifeguards with kids summer camp teaching kids that attend the beach/ocean safety.
I look forward to playing football in college, but also to further my academics and push my athletics abilities to the next level, I look forward to my journey after high school.
