My football career didn't start with peewee football like so many other athletes. My career started after my family and I missed the deadline for my highschool's midget team. Ever since that day I felt that I would be at a disadvantage. My coaches have said that this is the reason why I strive to be the best player and student I can be. I will always remember what I was told by one of my coaches, and that was "the team could never fill the void when Matthew wasn't with us." Academics are just as important to me as the football in which I play. I understand that I will be fighting for a place to play on a team not only with the skills and drive I have for football, but also what I can get done in the classroom, and I am ready for that fight.
