I am a practicing Catholic who goes to church every Sunday with my family. Along with being a Tight End and Defensive End, I can also play Long-Snapper and Quarterback. I went from a small, catholic grade-school where I played flag-football to a big, urban high school in Sacramento, California. This year, my varsity football just made it to a playoff game for the first time in 25 years. I started for both offense and defense in the playoff game but unfortunately, we didn't win. My freshman year, I was awarded "Junior Varsity Football Freshman Newcomer of the Year."
I love football because of the friendships I've made and the test of my athletic ability. I didn't know anybody at my high school before freshman year, but playing football, basketball and baseball helped me make friends before Covid shut us down. My football coach, Tracy Mitchell, did a weekly Zoom call with the whole team during lockdown, which reminded me that I was part of a team and kept me in-touch with my friends. If it weren't for football, I'd have a much smaller world and play a lot more video games.
I am in a honors program called The Humanities and International Studies Program (HISP) which teaches an advanced level of History and Literature to prepare me for college. I prefer math and science. Sometimes I help my teammates with their homework. I also play baseball for my school. After college, I might like to be an engineer like my uncle, or a financial advisor like my mom. I'm looking forward to college to see what else is out there.
