Philip Sherman '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6' tall 195 lb tightend/linebacker from Choctawhatchee High School in Ft Walton Beach, Fl.  I have a 3.3 GPA (unweighted), scored a 28 on the ACT, and will graduate in 2012.  A college with strong academics is important to me as I ultimately want to become a dentist.  I desire to play football at any level where I can contribute to the success of the team.

I first started playing football in the city league at age 7 and have played every season since.  I played wide receiver my freshman and sophomore year but was moved to linebacker my junior year and earned most improved defensive player on a 2nd round playoff team.  My senior year I started at linebacker and then was moved to tightend and slot receiver due to needs of the team.  I caught 3 TD passes and returned a blocked punt for a TD on a team that made it to the playoffs.   I  am not afraid to work hard on the field and in the weight room. I always give 100% with everything i do. 

I had previously committed to St. Norbert College.  I received a letter from the head coach on June 11th stating that a new limit on players in their program may cause him to cut players right up to the start of training camp.  I want to play college football and the possibility of not being invited to camp makes me want to play elsewhere.
