I have played multiple sports (football, basketball and baseball) since I was 8 years old. Football is my love, as it is the most physically challenging and mentally motivating. This game provides a unique pressure to think quickly on my feet. I trust my talents, skills and knowledge in making good judgments that will move me closer to my goals and I pay attention to things I can or need to do better. Playing quarterback has taught me a lot about who I am and how I am wired. Being coached and on a team for as long as I can remember has taught me how to build connections that promote trust, confidence, and loyalty. I learned I am flexible and can quickly adjust to changing or unexpected circumstances that upset or intimidate others. My calm response to chaos reassures others and helps me to respond effectively. Football has shown me that I have a natural ability to adapt to stressful situations. Mental and physical toughness are big contributors to the way I play. If I get knocked down, I have to get up. I stay positive and weigh different paths to figure out which is the best one. I execute, I encourage, and I lead.
With football being such a big part of who I am I want to earn a communication degree where I can apply my strengths of writing and speaking. I hope to work in a field that involves sports writing and/or broadcasting. I have overcome negative thinking as I learn differently and find writing has always been a strength and an area where I excel.
