Personal Statement
***********Semper Fi All-American
My name is Austin Logan and football is my passion. I am a 18-year-old senior defensive back at the Florida State University School. As indicated by my physical demographics I believe I have the size to compete at any level of collegiate football. In fact, I have received verbal offers from almost 20 Division I-A schools. However, I believe I am more than my physical demographics. My current coaches and trainers agree that it is not only my physical prowess that wows them but also my work ethic. They always compliment me on how hard I work. For example, when I was in 8th grade I went to a freshman combine and was only able to lift 135 lbs twice. I was so embarrassed that I promised myself that when I came back the next year that I would be one of the top performers in the bench press. I did just that, the following year I ended up lifting the same amount of weight 24 times during the freshman (rising 10th grade) combine. In addition, during the offseason and summer I frequently get up early in the morning to go work out with my trainers. I understand there is always something I can improve upon. Whether it is my speed, strength, explosion, or agility. I always set goals and seek to achieve them. In addition, my coaches and trainers appreciate how humble I am. I'm not the type to tell everyone how great I am. I just let my play on the field tell my story. I think my humbleness also makes me a natural leader. For example, I played basketball my freshman year on JV and I was a bench player, playing only three minutes a game. However, it was my enthusiasm during practice, hard work, and pushing my teammates that led me to be named a team captain. I'm the type of player that is always first to the field, first in drills, and the last to leave the weight room. Concurrently, I have also applied this work ethic to my schoolwork. I currently maintain a 3.40 + GPA and during my summers I am taking on- line classes to get ahead so that I can be in the position to graduate in December of my senior year if I so desired. My dream is to play college football and obtain a free education. My family has financial need and I would love to remove the financial burden from my family by receiving an athletic scholarship. I'm open to different type of schools and open to all geographic locations. I am interested in developing a relationship with that school that wants to enhance me as a person, student, and athlete. In turn, I will give my all to improve the school, the community, and the football program. I want to receive a degree in Journalism or Secondary Education. In addition, I also want to coach football and track at the high school level. Why? Because my goal is to become a positive role model for young African American men. Athletically my goals are to play at the highest competition level possible, compete for playing time my freshman year, and make a direct and positive impact on the team and the community.
