Peyton Streko '23 Recruiting Profile

    Starting at the varsity level as a Freshman is the biggest accomplishment of my high school career so far. Injury's have never been a big part of football for me until the summer of my freshman season. To me having an injury plays a bigger tole on the mental side than it does on the physical side. Being tuned into the game on the sideline and knowing what is happening at all times is just as important as being on the field because you have to turn yourself into a coach and help the teammates who need help. Being in this situation is where I grew the most as a freshman athlete.  I was brought into football at a very young age my father was a star quarterback at Pope john Catholic high school in New Jersey. I started playing tackle football when I was in kindergarten and I always played up with the older kids because I knew i can stand my ground with anyone and to this day I look back and remember that the years leading up to my freshman season made me the football player I am today.

    From the year I started football to the eighth grade I was lucky to be surrounded by great players and coaches. My last game before high school in eighth grade my team lost in the Pop Warner Super Bowl. This was the toughest loss because I blamed the game and put the loss on me. This loss changed me as a football player and made me re-think past decisions, work harder, and persevere because I knew I would face obstacles everyday when I stepped foot in New chapter in my life. Positivity is a word that represents me because when playing football you will never know when your last snap is. Having that thought really boosted my self-confidence going into the season. I was always the one who my teammates look up to because my the commitment, leadership, and sacrifices i put into the game of football. As a player I was very lucky to play for coach Tim Lester a former pro for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The coaching, his program provided, advanced my level of play, to where I can compete with the best teams across the country and dominate seniors, juniors, and sophomores. I definitely believe I have the talent to compete for a college team but the things that separate me from the the others is the "want" I have for the game, my work-ethic, and the off field work I put in to make myself and my teammates better people and better football players. As a three -sport athlete and a leader on and off the field I know I have what it takes to make an impact on your team.
