Personal Statement
My passion is the game of football. I am a 6’2” 215lb Junior for the Antioch Sequoits located in the Northern Suburbs of Lake County Illinois. As my head coach will tell you, I am a ‘lunch pail kind of player that can be lined up all over the field'. My versatility is a major asset to my game and to the success of my program. I am a gritty and hard-nosed player and consider myself one of the hardest working individuals on and off the field. I am 2 year starter, a 2 year All Conference player and a 2 year Conference All Academic. In addition, I was named to the IHSA All State All Academic team as a Junior this season. Our varsity team won the Northern Lake County Conference title for a second year in a row by repeating our regular season 9-0 record which earned us back to back IHSA State Playoff bids. I play an integral role in the team's past and future successes. I am considered a physical no nonsense versatile prospect with a good blend of speed, quickness, power and reliable hands. I am a leader on and off the field and I feel I continue to mature every week as a student athlete and a person.
Another big part of my life is my academics. I am a diligent student ranking in the top of my class of over 300 students. I maintain a 3.97 GPA while taking a challenging workload, heavily weighted with Honors and AP courses. I was inducted into the National Honor Society and Math National Honors. I continue to participate in different school clubs and organizations. In addition to playing football, I also play basketball in the winter and run track in the spring.
I have learned that to succeed in school, sports, and life, we need to make certain sacrifices to realize our ambitions. Whether it is pushing a little harder in practice or putting in that extra hour of studying at the library. Being a student-athlete has helped me learn how to prioritize my goals in order to achieve those that are most important to me. However, sometimes we cannot accomplish everything on our own. As a student athlete, I have learned that teamwork is a critical aspect of success. Teamwork on the field and off is something that has seriously helped me throughout my three years of high school.
My goal is to play football for as long as I can, at the highest level that I possibly can, and to go as far as it will take me. I will keep working hard and developing until my ultimate goal is reached, which is to play football at my peak performance level. I can and will be an asset to a team due to my commitment, work-ethic, versatility, toughness, and desire to be the best I can be.
