I have learned two main lessons in my high school football career. The first was the experience of consistent work over time to achieve a goal. As a freshman and second-string kicker seeing no playing time, I worked daily at my skills outside of practice, and gradually won the starting position by mid-way through the season. The second lesson was that of the value of contributing to a team and the solid feeling I have that my teammates can rely on me when called upon in difficult game situations. As the starting punter, I've had a successful senior year, as has my team, and I'm extremely proud of my contribution to our success.
While attending my college-prep high school, Benet Academy, I've had many similar experiences in the academics arena as those I've described in football -- mostly centered around achieving goals over time through consistent effort. I'm looking for a college program that will continue to challenge me on both the academic and the athletic fronts, as I very much look forward to the possible opportunity to positively contribute to a team on the collegiate level, and to do so at a quality academic school. Thank you.
