Andrew Williamson '17 Recruiting Profile

Winning two of the last three individual ISWA wrestling state championships is the highlight of my athletic career.  I value these championships because of the process that I endured to get to those pinnacles.  It started with setting personal goals, working with my coaches on a development plan, creating a roadmap with my personal trainer, and then investing the time, effort, and commitment throughout the journey.  This process has taught me the value of goal setting and how to accomplish success in athletics and it has translated to my class work.

My goal for college includes pursuing a major in statistics and/or business and competing on the football field.  A future career as a sports analyst or managing my own business would both be dream jobs for me. 

What value can I bring to your program?  I bring a high level of success on and off the football field.  In the classroom, on the field, on the mat, and in society, I have demonstrated the skills required to be a successful collegiate student athlete.  Competing at a high level in multiple sports has equipped me with a range of athletic skill sets, a constant competitive appetite, and a great balance of physical and mental development.  I also believe I have a higher upside than the current one sport athletes, because once I reach the collegiate level and dedicate to one sport my talents will grow exponentially over those already dedicated to just one sport.  The other separator for me from the other recruits is my wrestling background.  The work ethic, hips, leverage, balance, toughness, personal accountability, and strength that it requires to be an elite wrestler runs parallels with the skill sets of great linebackers.
