Matthew Traetto '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Matthew Traetto and I am a Grade 11 student-athlete standing at 6'3, 280lbs. I am currently attending Bishop McDonnell Catholic High school, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. I am the starting RG on the Varsity Football Team, where I continue to advance and learn each time I step on the field. I currently have a 3.9 GPA and have intentions of continuing to increase my GPA as I move into Grade 12 and onward. I am extremely driven and passionate when it comes to my academics, and would consider myself a student first, and athlete second. My high school academic goal is a 4.0 GPA final. I am working hard towards my future goal of being accepted into a respected business program where I can earn a degree in business administration. My passion for football started when I was only 9 years old. Being the largest among my peers, I was constantly told to give football a shot, but didn't as I was consumed with martial arts, specifically karate. Finally the time came when I joined the Cambridge lions Football Association and instantly fell in love with Football. After my first season of playing, I moved straight up to the Rep AAA level. I have competed in over 9 Seasons of championship-level football, winning 5 OPFL and OFL Provincial championship titles. Throughout my 7 Years of football, I have learned so many lessons that have molded me into who I am today, I am proud of my ability to learn and grow through the coaching of staff and peers. I consider myself to be a very coachable player and strong leader of the game, and I take new lessons and techniques very seriously. I dedicate my Football success on my ability to learn and adapt quickly, learning more each season of play. I believe this is what has allowed me to go from a disciplined karate student to a district all-star and 5x Provincial champion. I am a very driven, focused and determined student-athlete, equipped with the willpower to continuously put in the effort and produce results, both athletically and academically.
