My core number one goal is to get a good college education. If I can play competitive sports at the collegiate level, then that would be a great added bonus. Regardless of whether or not I can play at the next level, my plan is to put my best effort into whatever endeavor I may be involved in. I am determined to finish and follow all my commitments and achieve success when and wherever I can.
I started playing football in the spring of my freshman year of high school. At the time, there were no high school teams in the country, so I played on the China Sea Dragons varsity middle school team for a season. In the fall, the high school program was created and I have played there ever since.
Playing for this team has never been easy. We have always been short on players and for a long time many of our players have had to play ironman football. Being outside of school, our program often struggled to find ample practice time as well. We had only one practice a week on Saturdays for four hours. As a result, our offense was not good for a couple of years. In the recent year, with several of our key players graduating, I took it upon myself to make sure that our offense got better. I helped rewrite our playbook and transition it from a power I running game to a shotgun passing game. In between our Saturday practices, I would organize workouts with my receivers to improve our chemistry. All this had to be done at odd hours as well, for other sport seasons, such as volleyball and basketball were going on and we had to plan around the schedules that these sports presented us.
Despite all this activity, I have made time to ensure that my academics are still solid. For the past two years, I have been enrolled in the International Bacculaureate diploma program. The IB program has an incredibly rigorous workload and schedule, demanding many different types of assignments and the completion of the CAS program, which stands for creativity, action, and service. For two years, I have been able to balance this giant workload and all of my sports and still keep my grades at a respectably high level.
