I am a hard worker and a determined individual. I am always trying to get better at everything I do, as well as helping those around me to become better. I have modeled the four pillars of Damascus HS. When it comes to scholarship, I earned honor roll every quarter in high school, including the Distinguished Scholar Award in 2018 for recognition of achieving a cumulative un-weighted GPA between 3.75/4.0. As a student leader, I was selected team captain on both JV football and JV lacrosse during my sophomore year. My character was recognized by those around me. My sophomore year I was selected to wear the number 3 jersey in honor of a former football player who passed away. I believe in always maintaining a positive attitude, and respecting both my coaches and teammates. The last pillar is service. I have supported many different student service opportunities, including Spark the Wave at The University of Maryland at College Park, where they encourage young people to change the world through service and provide training for the best young community leaders. We developed the necessary skills in leadership development, group dynamics, and communication in an effort to plan and execute better service projects while building stronger teams. I completed the necessary Montgomery County service-learning requirements (300 SSL hours) to earn The Certificate of Meritorious Service Award. I am proud to represent Damascus HS and Montgomery County as I was selected as the only male MCPS student-athlete representative to attend the 2019 National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Student Leadership Summit. In this role, I will further enhance my leadership skills while interacting with my peers from around the United States and other countries. Information received at this conference will be shared across the county, including my high school.
