Personal Statement
I come from a large family, where I am the oldest of six children, and have been playing tackle football since I was seven years old. From a very young age, I realized that I had a passion for football and have dreamed about playing at the next level. I was taught that the best player on the field is not always the fastest or strongest, but the smartest. This is why I work extremely hard on improving both my physical and mental attributes.
Since I could remember, I was always interested in how mechanical things worked. I would often take things apart and put them back together. I want to major in Engineering in college and earn a career in robotics.
I have often been underestimated on the field because I have never looked as heavy as I weigh. This has taught me that I need to play harder than anyone else to get noticed. Between my work ethic and my no-quit attitude, I earned the respect of my coaches, and they trust what I see on the field.
During my Freshman year, I was the starting middle linebacker on South River High School’s JV Football team. I led the team in tackles, tackles for a loss, sacks, and was voted as the Defensive MVP for the team. I also joined the JV wrestling team, where I finished #3 in the county.
As a Sophomore, I was the starting outside linebacker on the varsity football team, where we finished with an undefeated regular season for the first time in the school’s history. Our team went to the semi-finals in the playoffs and ended our season with a record 10-1. I also made the varsity wrestling team where I finished with a 36-7 record, finished #3 in Maryland in the 170lb weight class, and made the 1st team All-County for 2020.
I am an Honor Roll student completing Honor classes. During my Junior and Senior years, my goals are to be the best football player and student I can be and earn a scholarship playing the game I love.
