Football, a sport like no other! Only those with a true passion for this game are able to compete at the highest level possible. It is this passion that pushes players to become the best person, athlete and student. I am a student at St. Paul's High School (Canada), an all boys University Prep School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Since attending St. Paul's I have realized that my ultimate goal is to play college football at the highest level possible. I know that I have what it takes academically and athletically to be a significant contribution. I am an extremely confident student-athlete and I strongly believe that I will be a valuable asset to your school and program.
As a Freshman at St. Paul's High School I played for the AA varsity football team. This is an achievement that is very rare and came with great expectations. During my Freshman year I was a starting Defensive Back and punt/kick returner. The year concluded with a Kas Vidruk Championship title and the honor of being named the All-Conference Returner. Heading into my Sophomore year I knew the expectations of me would be much higher, being on of only six returning players on the AA team I realized that I had to be a leader on the team. I was named a defensive captain and again started as a Defensive Back and punt/kick returner. I worked on different techniques throughout the season trying to better myself and the team. This season, much like the first, ended with a Kas Vidruk Championship title however the team finished the year undefeated and I was named Finals MVP. This award was accompanied with being named an All-Conference Defensive Back and being named the AA Defensive MVP, which is chosen by the players.
Although I am happy with my athletic accolades it is not the only thing I am able to offer the school in which I attend. My Freshman year at St. Paul's was an adjustment period in which I struggled to keep my grades at a level in which my family and I were satisfied. Heading into my Sophomore year I knew that in order to be considered the best student-athlete in Manitoba I needed to apply myself and improve as a student. During this school year I have raised my average and maintained a Silver Honor Role status. Although I am happy with my improvement to date I am not satisfied with myself and I know that with more work I will be able to improve my academics even more.
I believe that one can better himself by teaching others. During the season I am a coach for my local football team, by doing this I am able to see exactly what my coaches deal with day in and day out. This knowledge allows me to see not only what the coaches are thinking but also what the coaches want to see from me. Within my own team I understand that we are a unit and not individuals. Due to this belief I try to push not only myself but my teammates to be the best we can be. Throughout the year I am constantly finding new ways to improve my ability, whether it be watching film, working out, doing drills or simply playing football and learning from past mistakes. My desire to win and be the best is my greatest attribute and I know that if you and your school decide to accept me into your program, you will not be disappointed!
