I would like to start my personal statement addressing the academic portion because I believe education is the most important thing in this brief synopsis of myself. At the moment I am a junior in High School fighting to bring my grades up to be considered by coaches because playing on the next level is the ultimate goal of mine. Right now, I have a 2.444 GPA due to lack of focus in previous high school years. I promise that I have made a realization that I need to do better and am currently making an effort to reach my goal GPA of a 2.9 or higher. If I am being completely honest my attendance specifically my tardiness, needs to improve as well. In the past, my attendance has been an issue because I chose to socialize rather than get to where I need to be, which is in class. Although, to whoever is reading this I have made a personal commitment to myself and god that I will bring my grades up and keep my attendance in check to become recruitable.
I have played football for pretty much my whole life and my goal has been to play underneath the big lights on the big stage with all of my friends and family watching. I have always wanted this ever since I was a little kid playing in a non-profit league my mother ran in Taylor, Michigan. I had big dreams and now my dreams just got bigger. My aspirations grew recently after I had the opportunity and the blessing to play on a successful varsity team that has been grinding and hungry to win it all. Before I came to the school, Chippewa had been the underdogs and it showed until my brother's class, class of 2014, set the tone for years to come. My junior year was a battle, as throughout the year I had to fight and push myself to go harder than all the seniors above me. Through god, all the struggle came to pass and I ended up being in starting rotation on the defensive line throughout the playoffs and even at the state championship game. I kept an open mind and good attitude with my coaches, making it where my defensive line coach moved me from noseguard to defensive tackle to strong end, he had faith in me that wherever he put me I could beat the guy in front of me. It was an amazing experience that rewarded my team a state championship win and I give god all the glory.
