Josh Hoogendoorn '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a person of tremendous character both on and off the field in football, powerlifting, baseball and academically.  I will not be outworked on the field, in the weightroom or in the classroom.    I am recognized by my peers, coaches and teachers as a leader and have been named the captain or leader of almost every sport or program I have been involved with during my entire high school career which is something I am most proud of.  I continuously challenge myslef to improve every day and support and encourage others to do the same.  I value integrity and inclusiveness and try to make everyone feel valued and respected.  I take responsibility seriously and try to leave things better than when I found them.  I am also a committed Christian and try to liveout those values every day.

I am a 4.1 student and take my education very seriously.  I ensure I take classes and select teachers that will challenge and prepare me for college.  I  believe my involvement in sports has helped me to be a better student, as it forces me to be disciplined and manage time.  The weightroom also helps me hold myself accountable both physically and mentally.  I hold many school powerlifting records, one State record (deadlift) and have been in the top 5 in the State for 3 years.  I may not be the biggest player on the field, but the weightroom helps me play at a much higher physical level.

I would like to continue my athletic career while I am pursuing my academic objectives so that I can conitnue to challenge myself and be a part of a team of high achievers.  In that respect, I am not concerned with playing time, but rather the desire to be a part of something that requires discipline, commitment and where I can have an impact with my leadership and work ethic. 

I desire to attend a college with a strong business school and an emphasis in accounting.  I am open to looking at any opportunity regardless of location.
