Alex Whalen '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Alex Whalen, and I am currently  a Junior at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Pontiac MI (NDP).  My primary football position is Middle Linebacker, graduating in 2021.  I am currently 6' 0" and 210 lbs.  

I was selected Division 4 All-State Team (MI), Honorable Mention, as a Junior, by the MI HS Football Coaches Assoc, 2019.  The Detroit Free Press selected me to the Michigan All-North HS Football Team, Second Team Linebacker, 2019.  As a Junior, my teammates selected me as NDP Defensive Most Valuable Player, a special honor typically for Seniors.

My cumulative GPA is 4.32, Junior 1st Semester  GPA was 4.53.  ACT--34 (Composite --12/19); SAT--1400: Math--730 (06/19); Reading---670 (12/19)   I am most proud of scoring a "5" in the AP US History Class, as a Sophomore.

I am a International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Candidate at NDP; and currently enrolled in all International Baccalaureate Higher Level classes: Chemistry, Biology, Math, History, English and Chinese.

I was awarded the Fr. Jean-Claude Colin Founders Award, and am committed to continue to excel academically.  I was also  elected to the NDP Student Council (both as Freshman and Sophomore) and inducted in to the National Honor Society. In 2019,  Detroit Catholic League Athletics selected me for the Scholastic All Catholic Award, with the Award ceremony at Ford Field.  

NDP was recently named the top Catholic High School in MI, and top 3 Private school in MI.   NDP is a perennial football playoff team competing in Division 4, with a 10-2 Playoff run in 2019 and District Champions.

 My focus and passions the next four years are the International Baccalaureate program at NDP,  providing leadership both athletically and academically  and excellent teammate on the NDP football team.  

I am a member of the Michigan Elite 7 vs 7 Football Team, have attended several Football University camps, selected for three years (2017-2019) to the Top Gun National Showcase in Rock Hill, SC.   In 2020,  I am attending 2 dedicated  Linebacker  Camps in Mooresville NC.  and also training at Athletes Edge.  I look forward to demonstrating  my capabilities at college camps in 2020.

I am pursuing an amazing university program that will be an excellent fit for me both academically and athletically.  I have and will continue to learn the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and leadership, and look forward to actively and fully participating in this process.  I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team, and look forward to the next few years!
