Personal Statement

I am  a 6’5”  Tight End, Long Snapper and Defensive End at Wayzata High School. I started on the Wayzata A team as a 9th grader and the Varsity team as a Sophomore. Through the years, my coaches have said that I am:

  • Athletic
  • Strong
  • Have great hands and catching abilities
  • Ferocious
  • Cool under pressure
  • A quiet leader on/off the field
  • Determined, Focused and Committed
  • A good teammate
  • Principled

I am a three sport athlete (Football, Baseball, Basketball), and am proud to play each sport at either Varsity or near-Varsity level…which is an accomplishment at Wayzata High School - the largest high school in the state of Minnesota with enrollment approaching 3,500 students.

In my pre-high school years, I went to Redeemer Lutheran School in Wayzata, a conservative Christian school where I learned to be grateful, humble and remain grounded.  I really enjoy academics and currently hold about a 3.3 (out for 4.0) GPA.

I love the competition of sports and for as long as I can remember, my goal has been to play college ball. It is a goal that has kept me striving to get better and better every day of my life.

Ideally, I would like to be at a school that is in the Midwest…one with a great "college town" atmosphere. However, if the situation is right, I am open to different geographic locations. I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the educational aspect of the student-athlete experience and the great athletic experiences I hope to be a part of.

I firmly believe that I have the talent to compete for a college team, but also the character, work ethic and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.

Lastly, financial assistance is going to be very important to me in the college selection process as my family will have high need. I would be willing to travel farther to a school with less out of pocket expense.

I hope to chat with you soon, coach!

-Nick
