Personal Statement

College narrative: I feel like my essay speaks for who I am as a person. Which is why I decided to add it as a description of me.

Narrative Essay

Who am I? Is a question we often get asked, but of course it is formatted in a question of third person, which of course would read; who are you? Well let’s answer the most asked question, shall we? My name is Fabian Munoz, and am not really called by my actual name, it’s more less more nicknames, for example one of my most said nicknames is Odell, because of my history of blonde hair and my position at a wide receiver. Well let’s see I was born in las cruces,  that is my home town, but I grew up in a family were we had a lot of up’s and down’s, with family in and out of trouble with the law, or just being the best they could, and still not having enough money for college with my mom being the only person out of all of her family to go to college. You know growing up with your uncles and aunts because your mom was raising all of her brothers and sisters with your dad while you were barely understanding what was going on and why their was always so many people in your house like I’m really not going to lie, it was hard sometimes, you know my family wasn’t perfect, but who’s family is right?

Do you ever feel like your stuck at a red light, or your driving right and it just feels like you keep coming to a dead end no matter what you do? Well I’m here to tell you that you weren’t alone and or not alone, because when I got my concussion and then in a matter of a week, I got my second concussion, but kept the play on. Oh man, oh man, was that the worst mistake of life in a way, because of the damage and aftermath it not only left on me, but my family and friends as well. You know at first I thought it was pretty funny, because that week of my diagnosis I was supposed to transfer to another school to play football, and it wasn’t a recruiting it was more of a like get more playing time type of object and just wanting my time to shine, because my whole life I did everything for the team when it came to sports and not only was that making me a better person with characteristics but a better learner and a lot more effort being given in everything I was a part of and school grades and behavior was straightened with  my personality being changed and different due to the right way of being the person I should’ve been my whole life, and so if not made clear the major obstacle here is when I got introduced to not my first concussion my last two, and yes I’ve had a total of three concussions due to football along with other injuries, but out of my life and everything that has happened and really impacted my life, this obstacle was the one that just really hit the hardest. Not only did this obstacle affect my play on the field but my work in the classroom, and because of this I am not able to graduate in white, at my school, just meaning that the color white for our school represents top in the class.

Finally, my goals, yes well you see as mentioned in my previous paragraph/statement my goals that I had set, changed in a big way due to the obstacle. So, as of right now my plans are set to finish my senior school with the highest GPA possible as of with what I’m given and what I have throughout my entire high school. Of course, get everything I need to get done, done before I go off and start applying for college. Then once that is done and all is set, the plan is to get an academic scholarship and try out as a walk-on to the university I got the scholarship from.
