I’ve learned so much about myself as a multi-sport athlete in high school. Football, and track and field have provided and blessed me with the opportunity to learn discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills, but most importantly they have taught me the value of persistence, respect, and commitment. I’ve also learned a lot about time management and balancing the demands of my education and my athletics. I played basketball since I was six years old, but I was introduced to football in eighth grade and have truly found my passion. Football really combines all the aspects of everything I love about sports. But also includes the brotherhood of the team, and I identify greatly with the family structure of the team and the leadership aspects of that brotherhood. Football allows me to work my hardest individually for the team, and that has proven to be of great value in my life. I am honored to work hard and do my best for myself, my Coaches, and my teammates, and I thoroughly enjoy the kinship.
I come from a family of athletes and educators who have always put a great value on hard work and commitment to efforts. Whether it be in school, or on the field, my family has always encouraged me and my sister to do our best and give everything “our all.” Football is my opportunity to utilize my strength, speed, and mind, in a way that feeds my soul, aligns with my personal values, and makes me proud. I feel that my personal commitment to my sport along with my commitment to my family, education, and being a good person and trusted teammate, are all things that help guide me every day. I feel blessed that my Coaches trust me and am proud of being a coachable athlete and a trusted and committed player and team leader.
My sophomore year of high school and my first year starting on Varsity Football, I led my team in tackles, and I received First Team-All State and First Team-All-District awards. It was a great year, and I was happy to contribute to the team the way I did. I look forward to next season, and what the future holds, and will continue to work hard to be prepared mentally and physically to perform at my best.
