What sets me apart from the rest has been my ability to be patient, forward thinking and resilient. At an early age I was inquisitive and wanted to get things done, had an internal drive that moved me to learn more. I became a junior lifeguard at the age of 7. I realized very quickly that I do not learn like everyone else and I had to be quick to develop the answers and conclusions. After some tests it was discovered that some of the neurons from my brain do not all connect to my hearing center; I can hear but what is processed gets jumbled. This is the cause of my terrible test taking scores but as a student I excel. This did become a source of frustration for me and the start of many discouraging words of wisdom. I am fortunate that I have a supportive family who helped me through the frustration and taught me to never give up, always do your best and to celebrate your success. In my journey I have developed my skills in patience with myself. I have learned I must plan and be a forward thinker. I have cultivated in mind, body and spirit; my studies have improved my knowledge base. Physically I have honed techniques through various camps and attained the 1000 lbs. Club in 2018, providing fuel through nutrition. I have nourished my spirit through prayer; since 2009 I have participated in Mass as an altar server. These skills have led to many leadership positions. I am an Eagle Scout. I am in the Honor Society in Boy Scouts, held various offices on the local and regional level and most recently hold a regional position as Treasurer. I have participated in a weeklong National Youth Leader Training to learn to work with various groups of people. I have learned to become resilient; I have had many people try to discourage me on my journey but my drive to do more keeps me grounded and positive.
