James Dowd '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is James Dowd and I am a student athlete at Earl L. Vandermeuler High School in Port Jefferson, NY. I will graduate in 2024.

I was the starting middle linebacker for the varsity team in Rocky Point, NY, since 10th grade, and was Captain in my Junior season. 

My family moved for work and I am playing my Senior season for at Earl L. Vandermeuler High School in Port Jefferson, NY. I will be starting at linebacker and running back for my new team in 2023. I am also honored to be selected captain for the team this year. 

I led the Rocky Point HS team in tackles as a sophmore (51 in seven games, a TFL that resulted in a Safety) and a junior (54 tackles, 31 solo, 4 TFL, and a sack).

I also play running back, and I have played defensive end and defensive line. I am willing to play wherever I am needed to help my team win. 

I started playing football when I was eight years old, as a Shark in our local PAL leauge. I love playing football and I want to play for as long as I can. My dream is to  play college football, and I work hard on the field and in the classroom to make that dream a reality.

I am committed to continuous improvement. I want to get better every day. My dad told me, when i was a little kid, that if you work hard, you get better. I try to live by that philosophy. 

In addition to football, I placed in the counties for shotput and wrestling. I have wrestled varsity since 9th grade. I also lift at least three times a week, and train competitive MMA in the summer. I plan to add size and speed in the off-season, so I can have a maximum impact in my upcoming season. 

I hope I get the opportunity to meet you and show you what I can do, as I work toward my goal of playing college football.
