Hello Coach, my name is Dominic Sansone. I am currently a starting varsity kicker at McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, NY. I am a sophomore who is beginning to seek out universities and college summer camps. I have played soccer for over 10 years for various organizations in the Greater Rochester Area including Empire United, GPS, RFC, and the Rochester Lancers. In the spring of 2021, I was in study hall when my friend Matthew Wilson said “Dom, come kick for the Freshman Knights!” I called my parents and followed up with Coach Wilson having set a freshman record for points scored in a single season (38). After my first year of kicking, I was in love with the game. Coach Bates, the head coach of varsity football at our school called me into his office to say he wants me on the field for sectionals and to start as a sophomore kicker for his team. I was simply ecstatic, and committed myself from that day forward to be the best specialist for my team!
The varsity season kicked off in early September and our team made it to the regional final, winning our sectional game against Aquinas. I went 45/51 on extra point attempts with 5 blocked kicks due to a snapping issue. On field goals I converted 2/4 with a long of 29 yards. It was an awesome experience to win sectionals and definitely heartbreaking losing to Bennett the game after, however, I knew I would have the off-season to grow and develop into an elite kicker. I set myself up with a special teams coach named Sam Watts who trains me on average once a week working on my form and technique. Also, while working with Coach Watts, I have added 15lbs in the weight room, now weighing in it at 165lbs. I attended the Kohl’s Midwestern Regional Ranking Showcase in Chicago on May 15th. I went 5/12 on field goals and averaged a kickoff of 63 yards with 3.3 seconds of hang. It was a great first experience and I look forward to building on it.
From an academic standpoint, I started at McQuaid in 6th grade with 61 other brothers. I was elected a class officer as a 7th and 8th grader and added things for the students such as the semi-formal dance. I played modified and JV soccer as well as JV hockey for my middle school years. My cumulative GPA throughout my junior high was a 4.00! In high school I played one year of JV soccer and two years of varsity hockey. I was yet again elected class officer (now president) and began to set up bigger things like basketball tournaments, class trips, and days of service. Throughout my first two years of high school, I have been able to retain a 4.00 GPA! I look forward to my junior and senior years at McQuaid and cannot wait to kickoff this fall!
