I began playing sports at three years old. I started out playing soccer which I continued to play for nine years until my coach gave up coaching. At first I started simultaneously playing basketball and flag football. For a year I played ice hockey, as well, eager to learn a something new. I even tried swimming for a short period. Week nights and weekends were always spent hopping from one practice or game to another. My mother would pack up all my equipment into the car where many quick gear changes were made. Not once did I ask not to go to practice. Practice and games have always been the best part of my days. It was hard sometimes doing homework late at night, my body being sore, but I still couldn't resist the urge to get into an early-morning game of hoops before school or an afternoon pick-up game of football in the school yard before practice.
I have worked hard my entire life in sports because I always want to be the kid that helps my team succeed. At the same time, I have managed to keep my grades up. Although my current school does not have honors classroom (only AP), I entered high school a year ahead in all my major subjects. I intend to continue to work hard to do well for the rest of high school and throughout college.
I am considering different career paths, although I am not set on one at the moment. At my high school, I am enrolled in a Forensics program which has opened my eyes to some possible careers in the field that I may like to explore further. I also enjoy working with children and have had a fantastic experience working at a summer camp.
There are still some things I need to figure out, but there is one thing I know for sure--I will always work hard, play hard, and never give up fighting for a win both on and off the field.
