Personal Statement
Football has been a part of my life in so many ways. I always thought I would be on the soccer team in high school, but then I discovered football in 7th grade. Being on both the soccer and football teams in middle school made me realize that there was something special about the fellowship of football. When I had to choose between the two because they are both fall sports in high school, I chose football and haven’t looked back. My brothers on the team look out for and encourage me to be excellent every day. I do the same for them.
Being a part of a team that is emerging from several winless seasons is a challenge and a blessing. It has forged a bond between my brothers and me that is stronger than anything else. We finished 5-5 this year which is the best the team has done in a decade. But my teammates and I are not satisfied and will keep working because we love fighting for that next reward.
My teammates consider me to be a leader. I received votes for captain despite being just a Junior. I don’t consider myself to be the leader but the team respects my work ethic at practice. My middle school coach told me that if I wanted to make an impact in high school football I would need to show up to every practice early and leave last. I’ve done that because I believe that the players who make the most impact work more than they are expected to and still want to work harder.
As a Sophomore on Varsity I started on both offense, defense and some special teams. As a Junior I played WR, DB, RB, special teams gunner, punt returner, kick returner and place kicker. The only positions I haven’t played yet are lineman and QB. I am a versatile athlete with high football IQ who just wants a chance at the next level, no matter the cost or the position.
My goal is to take Apex Football to the playoffs next year for the first time in recent memory and play another 4+ years of college football wherever I’m wanted most.
