Hello my name is Luke McWhorter, I am a rising senior. I am 5'10, 180 lbs. I bench 270 lbs, I have a 3.8 gpa. When I was a little kid my dad introduced me the game by always throwing a baseball or football to me and eventually taught me how to shoot a basketball and I have loved each game ever since. The first time I was allowed to play football was in fourth grade and I fell in love with it. Football is a place where I can just forget about things outside of it and play the game.
Freshman year I started at wide receiver on varsity and played the slot, I ended the season on 201 receiving yards with 23 receptions. Sophomore year I continued to start on varsity having 10 receptions and 135 yards. Not until halfway through the season I got hit and fractured my ankle, I was out for 4 weeks and tried to come back strong and try to finish the season but I ended up having a small fracture on my 5th metatarsal which I found out during basketball tryouts. It was a back and forth battle between me and my foot because It would be healed and ended up breaking a total of 4 or 5 times throughout my sophomore year. Finally during the second game of my junior year I came back and I was put at H back, played receiver and linebacker as well. I fought through the season and my foot was healed but with having my ankle and my knee in pain every time I ran. During basketball my knee fractured causing me to need surgery and put me out for the season, it was called Osteochondritis Dissecans. January 28th is when I received surgery and with me going to therapy once every week I am only getting stronger and the functions of my knee back.
I am a pound for pound type of player and can do more such as agility and catching ability. One of my coaches once told me what makes me the player I am is because I am coachable. I pick my teammates up when they are down because they are my family as well, I am close to a lot of them and my coaches. I don't try to build up hardships because it isn't necessary, I am happy about the person I am and I thank my everyone around me for that. When I play, I compete only wanting to win. I work and grind for success to become the best I can be because this game I love. Becoming a college athlete is a dream to me and I am gonna work on and off the field to put it into existence.
